We Are Vermont
“Chai” School, the joint Hebrew High School of Ohavi Zedek & Temple
Sinai, began five years ago as a pilot program, and has had very successful years
ever since. Chai School is the only after school high school in Vermont for Jewish
teens regardless of synagogue affiliation (or lack thereof) and regardless of
whether or not a student has ever attended Hebrew School. There are twenty to
twenty five students enrolled each semester. The student population to date has
been drawn from all over Northern Vermont with students from Georgia, Warren,
Richmond, Williston, Hinesburg, Monkton, Burlington, South Burlington, Shelburne,
Essex and Middlebury. The School is dedicated to bringing compelling classes
to all Jewish teens in the Greater Burlington area and beyond. For
more information, please email
Judy Alexander of Temple Sinai, or call her at (802) 862-5125. Or you can email
Rabbi David Steinberg of Ohavi Zedek, or call him (802) 864-0218 ext. 25. NOTE:
If you are aware of any non-affiliated Jewish teens in the Greater Burlington
area who might be interested in this program, please pass an address, e-mail,
or phone number on to us. This program is open to all Jewish teens in grades 8
through 12, regardless of whether or not their families are members of any local
synagogue. FALL/WINTER
